Why Consolid?

The only stabilization proven for over 50 years that guarantees waterproofing and an irreversible increase in bearing capacity.

1. Background

In most countries, soil stabilization still relies on conventional methods using binders and gums: lime, cement, polymers, asphalt, bitumen, resins or chemical reagents. These soon cause problems after the project is finished and raise maintenance costs, because they only work for certain soil types and gradations, and soils are rarely homogeneous.

Studies show that stabilizing the soil is more economical than modifying or replacing it with other materials, which requires high investment, lasts little and makes maintenance more expensive. Stabilization is the best solution as long as the treatment is permanent.

2. Soil stabilization

Stabilizing a soil means improving its physical and/or mechanical properties through mechanical and/or physicochemical procedures. The goal is always to use all the material available on site to avoid large earthworks. Since soils are usually very sensitive to water — which softens clays and destroys their mechanical stability — effective stabilization is the one that fully controls that sensitivity.

3. What is CONSOLID Nanotechnology?

It is high-tech soil stabilization, waterproofing and consolidation, with more than 41 years of history and projects all over the world. It makes soil compaction completely irreversible, turning any soil into rock.

4. Technical effects

Strength

It permanently improves the bearing values of any cohesive soil and increases the original CBR/LBR values 3 to 5 times. It waterproofs, activates cohesive forces and keeps water out, eliminating the main cause of deterioration. This allows the asphalt layer to be safely reduced from 60 mm to 25 mm.

Economy

100% of the desired bearing values are achieved with the existing soil, with no need to excavate it or haul it to landfills. Durability almost completely eliminates maintenance, application uses common machinery and the treated soil is reusable.

5. Real savings

  • No soil replacement: substantial savings in material and hauling.
  • No trucks needed to bring in gravel or sand.
  • Less soil deformation and deflection, reducing rehabilitation costs.
  • Treated layer thickness is usually reduced to 25 cm.
  • With asphalt or concrete, a single 3 to 5 cm course over the stabilized embankment is enough.
  • 1 to 1.5 km of 6 m wide road can be built in a 12-hour workday.
  • No special machines required.
  • You know the result before starting, through in-situ or laboratory tests.
  • Construction cost savings of 20 to 50% compared with conventional methods.

6. Durability

CONSOLID Nanotechnology is the only stabilizer proven for over 50 years that ensures soil waterproofing and an irreversible increase in bearing capacity. Removing the effect of water and increasing the CBR/LBR makes it possible to build sub-bases that need no treatment for many years. From highways, lakes, ports, canals and farm tracks to airports: there is no soil that cannot be treated with CONSOLID.
